Hi honey, it is my first fashion drawing tutorial. I teach you how to design your first female frontal pose with 10 head proportion. I start by blocking the figure and then drawing the muscles with an easy method. Just follow the steps, you can easily draw your first fashion figure and use it as a template for drawing your designs.

  • Draw a line in the center of your page and divide it to 10 equal section. This is your 10 head center line.
  • On the first section draw a egg shape, this is your figure’s head.
  • Draw the shoulder line on the 1 ½ head from the top of the shoulder line.
  • Draw another line in 3 ½ head from the top of the center line. This is your model’s waistline.
  • From the waistline come 1 head down and draw another line. This is your figures hip line.
  • On the last head section draw triangle indicating space for the ankle and foot.
  • The shoulder width is equal to 3 cheeks width. Mark it.
  • Mark the waist width equal to 2 cheeks width.
  • Draw two small circle on the both end of the shoulder line.
  • Mark the halfway between end of the head and shoulder line and connect it to each arm socket circle. This is your figure shoulder slope.
  • On the shoulder line divide the cheek width in half and connect the neckline from the head to the shoulder slope then connect these lines with half circle, touching shoulder line.

  • For measuring the hip line, draw the narrow lines from the inner side of arm socket circle to the hip line, this is your figure hip width
  • Draw a torso by connecting inner side of arm socket circle to the waistline then Connect them to the hip-line by the rounded lines.
  • Draw the legs by connecting the hip to the bottom of the center line. Then find the knee position by dividing the measurement between ankle to the hip in half. Draw small circle there indicating the kneecap.
  • To draw the arms you need to know the elbow measurement. When the hands hangs down the elbow is the level of waistline. Draw small circle and connect the both side of arm socket circle to the elbow. The same measurement is repeated for the forearm, take the measurement from shoulder to the elbow and repeat it, this will give you the wrist position. Draw the circle and with two lines connect the elbow to the wrist. Then draw the hand which is smaller than head.
  • For drawing the other arm first make a pendulum with your pencil with the same height as upper arm measurement. Pivot out the pendulum, this the ark of elbow position. Draw elbow circle on this ark, where you decide the elbow go and draw the upper arm and forearm and indicate the hand which will be develop later.
Congratulations you finished the planning the front body. Flow the steps bellow to develop your front body sketch. For this part you need a marker but you can use a pencil as well.

  • Draw the size of face and eyes and then indicate the cheekbone,ears and indicate the position of nose and mouth. Indicate the hairline
  • Draw the neck muscle, then shoulder.
  • To draw the arm you need to know the position of muscles when comes out and in. Cap and biceps comes out and the elbow and wrist comes in.
  • Armpit starts below the arm socket and flow the muscle coming out at the elbow
  • For drawing the hand just indicate the fingers and thumb.
  • To find the bust line, find where the sternum begin at the hollow of the neck and draw a V mark there. The bust line position is the half between the top of the sternum and the waistline. Draw the arc line to indicate the bust line.
  • The muscle that shape the bust come from top of the armpit. Draw the bust start from top of the armpit and to the bust-line and indicate the center of the breast with dots on both sides.
  • Draw the side of the body and ribcage to the waist on the both side.
  • Draw clavicle on the both size and draw a bra, then indicate the belly button that is two finger below the waist line.

  • Draw the hip bone on both side then draw a panty for your figure.
  • Draw outside and inside of the leg to the knee.
  • On the one third down of the outside led draw the Diagonal dotted line to indicate the high and low muscles, on the ankle bone do the opposite Diagonal dotted line to indicate inside and outside ankle.
  • Draw the outside leg curving out  the cap muscles and in at the ankle
  • Draw the inside muscles with the lower muscles going out and the ankle slightly higher than outside ankle.
  • Indicate the shoe on the foot.
  • For the opposite leg do the same steps note that the muscle line is on the opposite direction.
  • Indicate the knee on the both legs.
  • Erase all pencil markings

This is it, you finished your first fashion figure.
